The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an organization that develops specifications, softwares, tools and guidelines to lead the Web finding its way with full potential. Moreover W3C is an international Consortium having its organizations located all over the world involved in many different fields that join W3C for the creation of Web Standards.
W3C's mission is:
To lead the World Wide Web to its full potential by developing protocols and guidelines that ensures long-term growth for the Web.
W3C’s mission is to raise the standards of Web and since 1994 W3C has published more than 110 standards. W3C also develops softwares and serves as open channel for Web discussions. W3C states that the most fundamental Web technologies must be compatible with each another to allow its access by any software or hardware used by people working online.
W3C is trying to expand to the Web technology according to the social values and need of World Wide Web around the world with respect to the communication between people at different location, trade and commerce, knowledge sharing along the web. W3C is working to achieve its main goal to provide these benefits to all people irrespective of their hardware, software, culture, language and location. W3C every time broaden its efforts to make the Web available to more people around the world.
Nowadays there are number of gadgets whether they are home appliances or other devices such as mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDA), smart phones and computers, can all access the web. In 2005 W3C achieved its goal of Mobile Web Initiative to make the web accessible on all devices with same ease as on computers. Web is a vast database of information that’s why it is called the knowledge base that is useful to solve the problems from the range of simplicity to complexity.
